Wind Power

The awesome power of wind is all around us. It's whistling across our yards and over our roofs. Rippling our flags and blowing through our hair. It's a free resource. No one owns it. But you can use it. With a residential wind turbine you can harness the wind to power your home, reduce pollution, lower electric bills and decrease dependence on fossil fuels. And you can do it right from your backyard. The opportunity is yours for the taking.

Since wind power solutions are VERY specific to local area conditions & customer requirements, we are only able to quote effectively once we have a thorough understanding of all these factors.

If you are interested in knowing more about wind energy, please don't hesitate to contact us here. In the meantime some general information is offered below:

Off Grid Solutions

An off-grid application is one powered by a battery system and is not connected to the utility company's power system, such as a remote home, cabin or shed.

AIR Breeze

AIR Breeze produces maximum energy in lower winds and is so quiet that it blends into background sounds such as the wind itself. It produces up to 38 kilowatt hours a month in an average 12 mph (5.4 m/s) wind.

What makes AIR Breeze better?

Lower Start-Up Speeds — AIR Breeze has a wide airfoil that starts up at lower wind speeds and provides greater durability and improved overall performance. The airfoil also has a boundary layer disruptor for quieter operation.

Maximized Energy Production — The Electronic Stall Control feature reduces shutdowns in high winds, while Power Tracking maximizes energy production at all wind speeds. AIR Breeze also has more robust Field Effect Transistors (FET).

Grid-Tie Solutions

A Grid-tie solution is one in which the wind turbine is connected directly to your home electricity supply. When the wind blows, the turbine generates clean, affordable electricity to power your home. When you and your family use more power than your wind turbine is producing, your utility power will take over.

It is possible in the near future in South Africa, that homeowners with these types of systems installed will be paid for the excess power they produce. When this happens your wind turbine could in some cases run your meter backwards!

Kestrel e300i

The Eveready-Kestrel grid connect system allows the user to exploit both the available renewable energy sources as well as the benefits of the standard electrical grid and eliminating the expense of electricity storage devices.

The Eveready-Kestrel grid connect system has the following key features:

  • A unique grid tie inverter is used to synchronise the varying voltage from renewable resources to a stable grid supply.
  • Sophisticated algorithms ensure that the renewable energy generated is optimally used.
  • The grid tie inverter ensures network safety even if the grid fails or becomes unstable.
  • The ability to feed back excess energy into the grid.
  • The grid connect system can also be connected to a battery back-up in the case that the grid itself fails and operates as a back-up system.

The Eveready-Kestrel grid connect system has a wide range of potential uses from:

  • providing the ability to exploit renewable energy as opposed to traditional grid energy for lighting and appliances
  • to provide renewable energy for back-up systems, especially where grid electricity is unstable

The Eveready-kestrel grid connection system is currently being used to provide energy to households, back-up to computer systems, supplement power to corporate head offices and provide support to rural schools.
